His entry into the world of cycling was unusual: Max raced on the road for the first time in the U17 age category. Beforehand, he excelled at track and field meets and discovered cycling by entering mountain bike races.
After two successful years as a U19 rider, Max switched to the Team Raiko-Stölting in 2012; he remained at the team – then Team Stölting – until the end of 2014.
The almost gigantic man – 199 cm and 90 kg – is not only convincing due to his athletic attributes: before and after the races, Max Walscheid’s strong personality makes him very likeable.
The image of an upcoming and promising road racer is augmented by traits such as humility, determination, the constant ability to analyze and a desire to perform for his teammates.
Since 2015 Max races as a pro for the UCI WorldTour-Team Team Sunweb, former Team Giant-Alpecin.
